Share Your Chinese Vocab Lists Using Google Spreadsheets

Step 1: Create your list on Google Spreadsheets ~ Sample Spreadsheets
Step 2: Publish your list on Google Spreadsheets
Step 3: Submit your list to Primezero Chinese Tools

  1. Create a vocabulary list using Google Spreadsheets.

Login to Google Docs. (whoa, slow down turbo. what is google docs?)

    Create a new Spreadsheet.

Enter Chinese characters in Column A. Enter a translation in any language in Column B. In this example, Lines 1 and 6 are in Spanish. Line 2 is in Russian. Lines 3, 4 and 5 are in English.

You can format your spreadsheet for readability as seen below. You can go crazy with colors since Primezero Chinese Tools will only read the text of your lists.

    Save your spreadsheet.

    Sample Spreadsheets:

    • Sample: My Vocab List (Multiple Language Demo)
    • Sample: Days of the Week in Russian
    • Sample: Days of the Week in English

  2. Publish your list on Google Spreadsheets.

After saving your spreadsheet, you want make it publicly available so that Primezero Chinese Tools can see it and add your list to the index queue.

Click on the Publish tab on the right side of your screen. Click on the Publish Now button.

If you want to be fancy, you can automatically re-publish when changes are made by checking the option box. This does NOT tell Primezero Chinese Tools to index your list in real time. Also, please note that automatically saved is not the same as automatically published.

Click on your spreadsheet link to check your data.

Take note or COPY your Google Spreadsheets web address. You will need the complete web address of your spreadsheet for the submission to Primezero Chinese Tools.

  3. Submit your list to Primezero Chinese Tools for indexing.

Enter the Google Spreadsheets web address.
    Example: http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=pmc_CvaoQp30hdA17GzCddg

    Done.

If Primezero Chinese Tools adds your list to the index, you will see it appear in the search results. Below, you see the results for Friday in Russian. The source is my vocab list called "Days of the Week in Russian". Neat, huh.
