LEGO Toys + Packaging: A 3D Modeling Study In Design

Saturday, February 2nd, 2008

When I start product development projects for clients, I like to take already successful product lines and learn from them. Each time I perform such a study, I am amazed at how much ingenuity goes into dreaming, drawing, creating, building, packaging and shipping products.

I want to clearly see the geometries involved in production because at the end of the day my clients only want to know how much the project will cost. ^^ Only after understand the various geometries can I even begin to estimate costs and logistics of bringing a product to market.

In this research study, I want to study the LEGO Exo-Force Model 8111 River Dragon. I will try to post as much as possible, but I am very busy during this time of year.

This should be fun.

Building Legos With SolidWorks Is Fun Fun Fun

This is a good practice of geometry. You use calipers to measure dimensions then use sketches to calculate how the solid is formed. Good exercise in applied geometry :-)
