Tip #1: Relax.
Before you sit down to create and share your study lists, make a nice cup of coffee or green tea. Turn on some music and just relax. In my experience, translation is easy when the brain is calm and tranquil.
Tip #2: Don’t worry about making mistakes.
Do not aim for perfection. Perfection is subjective, so your interpretation of perfection may not be understood by me or the server.
Tip #3: Invite your friends.
Share your Google Spreadsheets with friends and allow multiple users to contribute to the study lists. (The more, the merrier.) Studying with your friends is a terrific way to build a useful study list.
Tip #4: Keep it simple ….or traditional.
Enter either Simplified or Traditional Chinese characters for each entry. Not Both. You can use both simplified and traditional forms in your study list, but you do not need to enter the long form and short form for each entry.
Tip #5: Have fun! Think about all the people you will be helping by sharing your study lists.
A new and improved version of Primezero Chinese Tools is now available.
A list of features and updates will be posted later, but I just wanted to give anyone interested the heads up.
First, you will notice the queries are faster. Soon, you will see more entries and even more features rolled out more quickly with the new system.
Sharing your vocab lists is easily done in three easy steps.
First, you create your own vocab list in Google Spreadsheets. You can upload an exisiting Excel spreadsheet or start one from scratch. Google Spreadsheets is wonderful because more than one person can collaborate on the same vocab list.
Also, you don’t need to add pinyin or romanization. The Primezero Adding Tool automatically converts the Chinese Characters into pinyin for you.
Next, you can publish your Google Spreadsheet in a few clicks. You can publish your work-in-progress, that can be automatically re-published upon any changes. This is a super feature as your vocab list is available online to be index by Primezero Chinese Tools immediately.
I am currently working on live-editing tools, but for now you need to wait a few hours for the adding tool to integrate your vocab lists into Primezero Chinese Tools search.
